Native American History and Contemporary Culture H14186
Gain a better understanding of the diversity of Native American Indian history and culture. This course will idenify native ethnic communities and traditions with an emphasis on Eastern woodlands. We will discuss commonalities and differences , deconstruct stereotypical images, analyze and discuss theories of prehistory, and discuss government policy and laws directly connected to native peoples. This course is taught by Native Americans who incorporate music, language, art, artifacts, and videos and rely on their own cultural experience and knowledge.
Lenora “Lee” Dingus, a Seneca and Earl Dingus, a Cherokee, are adjunct professors for the Community College of Allegheny County, where they teach Native American History and Anthropology
