Kokopelli (the flute Player) pendant/pin combination with purple wampum & hand hammered Silver in an overlay style. There are 4 stars stamped on the surface to represnt the 4 directions - or the four races of man. Kokopelli is a symbol often found in the western area of Turtle Island (North America) and is an ancient rock art symbol most often a fertility symbol. "Wampum" is a shell that can be found in many different colors of purple, pink, black, white and ivory. It is a very hard shell and is difficult to cut and polish for jewelry settings. Wampum was a trade item during the fur trade era, however wampum was never money and most East Coast Tribes, used wampum for thousands of years for both adornment and in the weaving of "Wampum Belts" ...our way of "recording history".
