Cuff style bracelet made of several rows of tringle shaped sterling silver heavy gage wire gives this bracelet lots of design and texture. The stones alternating across the center are made from Buffalo Horn (Black) and Wampum (Purple). The beautiful black stone that is buffalo horn shows how we (Native pople) never wasted anything from the gift of the hunt. Using the Buffalo Horn in jewelry is just one example of how not to waste any thing that the gift of The Hunt" gives us. "Wampum" is a shell that can be found in many different colors of purple, pink, black, white and ivory. It is a very hard shell and is difficult to cut and polish for jewelry settings. Wampum was a trade item during the fur trade era, however wampum was never money and most East Coast Tribes, used wampum for thousands of years for both adornment and in the weaving of "Wampum Belts" ...our way of "recording history".
